Schoolchildren's health: trends and determining factors

Key words: children's health, human resources quality, monitoring children's health, family living standards, physical development of children, worsening of schoolchildren's health, healthy lifestyles.

The authors assert that it would be unfair to claim that nothing is being done for children's health protection in our country. The real number of projects has increased (national project "Health", project "School catering", national project "Education", regional targeted programmes, programme for health care modernisation). Still, analysis of the causes of children's health decline shows that the present measures are not sufficient. It is necessary to carry on and improve the existing arrangements and to elaborate new ones, as well as to spread the positive experience gained in separate regions.

The "field" of childhood

Key words: the "field" of childhood, qualitative and quantitative characteristics, children, teenagers, health, education, moral standards, drug addiction, alcoholism.

The article deals with the problems of children in the Russian Federation. There is not only a decrease in the number of children in Russia but also a significant decline in their qualitative characteristics. The authors give a special consideration to health, education, material position of children and their families, their moral standards (drug addiction, alcoholism of teenagers).

Labour activity of the disabled and prospects for their employment

Key words: labour activity of the disabled, employment of the disabled, the disabled in working age, the disabled over working age, the disabled employment projection.

The article presents projections of the number of the disabled and their employment in Russia on the whole and in the city of Moscow till 2030 with the account of demographic factors and rising labour activity of the disabled. It considers three possible variants - inertional, optimistic and middle, and also gives socio-economic assessment of the expected effects of the events development by these three variants.

Patients after total hip arthroplasty as a social group

The article discusses the rising interest to the issues concerning hip arthroplasty. The number of patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty is growing, and these patients form a special social group. In Russia and all over the world the number of those who need hip arthroplasty is rapidly increasing. These people need rehabilitation, dynamic examination in orthopedic clinics, pharmaceutical treatment using non-steroid and anti-inflammatory drugs and chondroprotectors. To examine this group of patients, the author proposes several methods including the use of arthroplasty register and radiotelemetry.

Regional aspects of the analysis of population migration

Key words: inter-regional and inter-national migration, directions and character of the migration processes, factors of the migration intensity and effectiveness, migration recipients and donors, migration situation.

The article considers the inter-national and inter-regional exchange of population in the Russian Federation subjects under the existing conditions. It indicates the most significant among the migration partners of Russia, examines their contribution to the net migration structure in the country during 2006-2010. It identifies the main and local migration recipient regions, main migration donors and transit territories. The authors propose measures for improvement of the migration situation in Russia.

Development of the cellular communication in Russia

Key words: cellular communication market, population expenses, development of cellular network, cellular operators.

The article examines main trends on the cellular communication market in Russia, dynamics in the amount and structure of the population expenses on vocal and additional cellular services. It also analyses dependence of the cellular services consumption on the prices per minute offered by separate operators and across the market as a whole. It shows that the high rates of development of the cellular communication market in Russia in recent years were resultant from underdevelopment of the telephone network that caused a high unsatisfied demand for cellular services. The author also proves that the distribution of cellular services consumers between cellular operators is directly related to the levels of prices offered by operators as compared to the average market price.

Informatisation of society and family budgets of the Russians

Key words: informatisation of everyday life, information budget of family, dissociated family, subsistence minimum, regional surveys of population.

In this article the term of information family budget denotes above all a totality of budget expense items with their particular filling, which is evaluated with the account of purchasing and use of ICT devices and services. Evaluation of the information family budget is made taking into consideration the character of connections and contacts, including not only the part of a family living in the same household but the whole family as a multi-generation and spatially dissociated unit. According to the data from a survey of average-income Moscow families, which was conducted in 2007 and 2009, expenses of most surveyed families on information goods and services made from 7.0% to 18 % of their total expenditure. The share of ICT in family expenses is comparable only with the share of nutrition that usually exceeds other expenses. Here are also used the data from a special inter-regional survey conducted by ISESP RAS in 2010. The article proposes methods for evaluation of the information component in total family budget.

Potential for modernisation of the Russian higher school: competences communication
of the professorate and students

Key words: modernisation potential, competence communication, producing competences, efficiency of communications, orientation on client, creativity, passionarian surge.

The article deals with a survey conducted by the marketing research agency Procontact in spring 2011. The survey examined the process of producing competences by Russian universities and the degree of mastering these competences by university graduates. The experts under survey represent the top and medium-level management of Russian companies. They share the concern of the pedagogical community over the young specialists? level of competence and their ability to participate in effective modernisation of the Russian society.

Profile education at schools in Moscow and Moscow oblast

Key words: reforms of education, profile education, problems and factors of success, representatives of the pedagogical community, scientific research on the issues of vocational education.

The article analyses the outcomes of studying the profile education of senior pupils at schools in Moscow city and oblast. The study was conducted by the Department for preparation and admission of entrants to the Academy of Labour and Social Relations with participation of the author of this publication. There were identified the training profiles that are in greatest demand, mechanisms for financing educational establishments, prospects for work of the integrated educational and scientific complexes.

The Law on Trade Unions in the Republic of Moldova: the rate of efficiency

Key words: trade unions in the Republic of Moldova, legal provisions for their activities, protection of the rights and interests of the employed workers, sociological study of the efficiency of the trade unions activities.

The article analyses application of the Law on Trade Unions in the Republic of Moldova using the results of a sociological survey conducted in 2010-2011 by the Institute of Labour at the National Confederation of Trade Unions. The authors claim that to raise the efficiency of the law, it is necessary to form a tribunal on labour conflicts and a centre for registration of the trade unions' rights violation, to invigorate the work of trade unions and their leaders in the struggle for entering the international labour norms into the national legislation.

Legislative regulation of the health care reform in the USA

Key words: health care reform, affordable health care, Health Benefit Exchanges, insurance companies, tax credit.

The article deals with the decisive stage in reformation of the USA health care system - enacting the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law by President Obama in March 2011. The law has to expand health insurance coverage practically to the whole population of the USA, raise health care efficiency and lower health care costs. The article highlights main law provisions, first measures for its implementation, as well as the attitude of the Americans to it.
